Joe Rogan Is Finally For Bitcoin

The podcast king has finally spoken! Although over the years Joe Rogan has shown his support for Bitcoin, he never fully believed in cryptocurrency’s adoption into the mainstream until recently. Rogan stated, “I think of Bitcoin the same way I think of the early internet, they didn’t see it coming and now it’s a viable form of currency you can actually buy things with it.”

In a podcast clip from earlier this week, Rogan was speaking with MMA fighter Khalil Rountree about the importance of cryptocurrency. Rountree can be seen wearing his Nano Ledger S on a necklace during the podcast as he shares stories of cryptocurrency being used against oppressive governments. 

I don’t know about you, but carrying around my hardware wallet on a necklace would give me anxiety all day - But then again, I am not a professional fighter.

We see this as a huge win for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency knowing that The Joe Rogan Experience garners an average of 11 million listeners every single episode. Some would say that Bitcoin is becoming more and more mainstream, but this 6-minute clip was able to showcase the possibilities of cryptocurrency to the biggest media audience in the US.

Cardano Stablecoin Djed Launches Testnet

Cardano has been in the top ten coins on CoinMarketCap for quite some time now. After much anticipation, COTI has released the Testnet for their first algorithmic stablecoin on the Cardano blockchain, Djed.

Djed is set to maintain stability through a combination of collateral and a reserve token, which in this case is Shen. Shen, as a reserve token, will guarantee the collateralization of Djed and will reward holders for providing that service.

Help test the Djed ecosystem! Get started by following these instructions straight from their blogpost:

  1. Go to the Cardano test faucet and get test ADA: https://testnets.cardano.org/en/testnets/cardano/tools/faucet/

  2. Go to djed.xyz

  3. Connect with your Nami wallet

  4. Change the Network to “Testnet”

  5. Check the “custom node” box and insert the URL: https://cardano-submit-api-testnet.djed.xyz/api/submit/tx

  6. Start minting and burning Djed on the Testnet version.

The COTI team is excited to launch the Testnet but is ensuring that users understand that it is simply just a test. If you choose to participate, understand that there will be bugs and malfunctions found during this phase that are critical to helping the project. This gives testers the opportunity to learn how the protocol works without incurring any risk.

Pay for College with Cryptocurrency

Drowning in student loan debt? A lot of Americans are, but Gen Z is looking for ways to avoid that issue. Bentley University, a private business university in Massachusetts, has announced that they will be accepting cryptocurrency for tuition payments.

BU prides itself on being at the forefront of technology and innovation. They will be teaming up with exchange giant CoinBase to accept three of the top cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDC. Sorry to all of you DOGE hodlers out there.

Bentley student Alex Kim was a huge driving force in this decision. Alex began investing in Bitcoin during his high school days, taking a deep dive into the cryptocurrency world at a young age. The knowledge he gained is helping change the way the university teaches about world finance and he even launched the Bentley Blockchain Association, which helps students get acclimated to cryptocurrency. 

BBA has amassed over 250 members and has brought the need for cryptocurrency to be added to the curriculum. The university plans to launch a class on blockchain technology and decentralization this fall. If you have time and crypto to spare, consider enrolling.
