Moonbirds Recap - Yes, these birds are going to the moon

Well it has been over 5 days and this project has been up and to the right since.

Moonbirds, the hot PFP (Profile Picture) NFT project launched at 2.5 ETH and is now trading at a floor of 36.4 ETH. WOW?

Over $365 million in sales and counting. It even passed the trading volume of Godfather PFP NFT projects such as CryptoPunks and Bored Apes. These birds are doing almost 40% of the volume on OpenSea. Flap Flap.

Early Proof Collective members are getting a crazy ROI (See calcs below). You could have bagged a Proof NFT membership for around 1 ETH back in December of 2021. That membership alone now has a floor of around 119 ETH. Proof members each got 2 FREE Moonbirds which are worth about 35 ETH each!

Let’s do some math shall we?

Initial investment of 1 ETH which is about 3K USD today.

Proof Collective (119 ETH) + 2 Moonbirds (35 ETH x 2) = 189 ETH

189 ETH is about $567,000. Good for a 189X return!

What do we think?

Well after spending our afternoon perusing owl pics we like what we see but not at the current prices. Wait for the hype to die down if you want to buy one or wait for the next Proof project.

Coinbase and NFTs

While we are on the topic of NFTs, Coinbase is trying to give OpenSea its best right hook.

The project is still in beta and CB is only allowing early testers to jump on the bandwagon. Digging in we can say the UI/UX is colorful but usability remains a question without jumping in. We will dive in and update you all soon…pinky promise.

Users can have a profile similar to Twitter and people can follow you. From there you can show your wares like it is a spring break wet T-shirt contest. Discovery will happen from a feed that “recommends” NFTs according to your purchasing habits, people you follow, etc.

For now they are supporting ETH and stuff is listed in ETH.

How will they win?

  • Social features such as a comment system (Upvoting and Downvoting)

  • Algorithmic feed

  • Pumping this new shill to their current users

How will they lose?

  • Many argue they are late to the game. However, look at what FB (Meta) did to MySpace.

  • The NFT market could it be on its last legs and going downhill faster than a canceled Twitter account

Is their timing good? We will have to wait and see.

Verdict:

We think there can be an Adidas to every Nike.

Opensea won’t be able to maintain market share as more competition enters this crowded space. Look out for decentralized solutions to jump into the fray as well.

Future Alpha in NFT project the Artieverse

This is a project that could have liftoff soon. They are pretty much using the NFT Launch 101 playbook by teasing games, merch, IRL events and more. There is some hype and it is backed by heavy hitters:

Why we like it:

The avatar is an actual moving 3D looking image vs the classic 2D PFP. It also has music backing it so the team is getting creative. Owning one will allow you to play their soon to launch game.

The floor price is low at around 0.4 ETH and if the team delivers on said projects there could be respectable ROI. However if the game sucks then it is GAME OVER.@Lady of Crypto (follow her) has a cool mini-thread on it. As always DYOR.
