All about the ETH merge

This summer's most anticipated event outside of your grandma's pool party is the ETH merge. Talked about for years but now we are at the brink.

Why does this matter?

This is the upgrade to the ETH blockchain that will switch it from proof-of-work to a proof-of-stake model. This change will help kill the uproar around ETH's impact on the environment. Transaction speed will also get a boost.

The Ethereum Foundation has been working on this for years and delays have been countless. However this time the team is saying it will happen sometime in August 2022. The Beacon chain which is a ETH blockchain used as a test will "finally" hook up with the Ethereum chain - Like when Thanos got his last Infinity Stone.

This is considered to the the biggest upgrade in the history of crypto.

If all goes well:

- The ETH team would show the world it is capable of delivering when it matters

- High gas fees could be a thing of the past

- The price of ETH could boost

If it does not:

- Further delays will erode trust in the ETH team to deliver

- Environmentalists and politicians will continue the finger pointing that crypto is bad for the earth

- Price of ETH could get beat down

We have an uncomfortable amount of ETH riding on this one so fingers crossed.
